"The Fellowship seems like a great opportunity to connect with and learn from an interdisciplinary group of leaders and mentors. I believe that the short pause from the day-to-day in structured as well as free-flowing sessions will help me synthesize and emerge sharper in how I will move forward professionally and personally."
Rekha Raghunathan has 20 years of experience in the corporate and social sectors. She is a generalist with wide-spanning interests that have helped her build interdisciplinary teams and kickstart many new initiatives across organisations.
As CEO of India Animal Fund (IAF), her focus is on shifting human perception about animals - particularly farm animals -- from being emotional to becoming strategic. This involves engaging and convening diverse stakeholders including companies, donors, policymakers, investors, and social sector organisations. Rekha recently co-conceptualised a Funding Circle for Animal Welfare in India to build a robust ecosystem of and for donors to support interventions within the One Health framework -- which recognises that animal, human, and environmental health are interconnected. As a Steering Council member of the India Karuna Collaborative (IKC), she hopes to unify even more individual and organisational voices and raise awareness on animal sentience.
Rekha played competitive tennis for Tamil Nadu state and Madras University. She loves to write, sketch, and strength train. She has always loved indie dogs and has recently discovered that she also loves cats! In her personal capacity, she is Trustee at All Paws Community (APC), which aims to build a sustainable community animal care model through four verticals: Clinic, Rescue, Unite, Stay.
