What inspired you to join Mountaintop?
"I was drawn to Mountaintop's belief that communities flourish when local leaders have the support to drive their own development. After years of working within education systems, I wanted to be part of an organization that invests in the people who are already doing transformational work in their communities, helping them deepen their impact and scale their vision."

Divya Sharma is a Program and Operations Associate at Mountaintop International, where she supports fellowship operations, database management, and the systems that enable reliable financial processes and high-quality program delivery. With over six years of experience building and running programs across education and social impact organizations, Divya brings clarity, structure, and follow-through to complex work behind the scenes.
Her work focuses on designing programs that serve learners and teams well, strengthening backend systems, and ensuring that operations remain both efficient and people-centered. She enjoys turning ideas into action, streamlining processes, and supporting stakeholders with care and precision. Her interests span education, systems thinking, and impact at scale.
Growing up in Mumbai, Divya witnessed the transformative power of education and community early in life. She often describes herself as a feminist and a believer in the “starfish theory” the idea that even one person empowered can create meaningful change. This belief has shaped her work across schools, selection systems, and youth programs, and ultimately led her to Mountaintop’s mission of building human infrastructure globally.
Divya began her career as a Teach For India Fellow in Govandi, where she saw firsthand how access, consistency, and one committed adult can change a learner’s trajectory. During her fellowship, she improved math and science outcomes by 63 percent for 88 students and was selected to represent the organization globally on the ProFellow platform. This experience grounded her conviction that education is not only a service, but a powerful lever for dignity, economic mobility, and long-term wellbeing.
She later served as Applicant Experience Manager at Teach For India, where she led end-to-end selection operations for a pipeline of more than 20,000 candidates annually. In this role, she designed systems that balanced efficiency with equity to identify and support high-potential teacher leaders. At Teach For Malaysia, she designed and launched KemSKORlah, a 15-day school readiness program that improved post-program assessment scores by 74 percent for 400 students. At LEAD School, she delivered capacity-building training to more than 200 educators across 15 schools and was recognized as Employee of the Month for exceptional program delivery and stakeholder impact.
Across her career, Divya has consistently focused on solving complex operational challenges, piloting high-impact initiatives, and building systems that center the people they serve. She remains deeply committed to women’s empowerment and to contributing to women’s welfare through her work.
Divya holds a Diploma in Governance and Government Studies from the Indian Institute of Governance and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Mumbai, where she served as General Secretary of the student council and was named Best All-Rounder Student of the Year. An avid reader and lifelong learner, she believes in the power of words, education, and enabling local leaders to create lasting change.
