Mentorship Program Falling Short

What Happened: Our first cohort of Fellows in 2024 was paired with a mentor who was intended to meet with them each month and support their leadership journey. While some of these pairings were highly successful, a majority of the pairings met irregularly or completely stopped meeting. The 2025 cohort is still awaiting access to mentors or advisors.

Action and Learning: We created the Mountaintop Advisors Program, a group of 40+ world class leaders across entrepreneurship, NGOs, business, government and academia, who have agreed to meet with Fellows and alumni 1:1 on demand. We believe the growing number of advisors and the flexibility of an “office hours” model will allow for more successful mentorship relationships long term. We learned that successful mentorship relationships are a two way street and are very hard to engineer top-down, so by creating more flexibility in who Fellows meet and letting relationships grow more organically, we are hopeful that these relationships will be stronger and more sustainable.
