Social Impact Leader

What inspired you to join Mountaintop?
"I chose to join the Social Impact Executive Fellowship to gain a 'summit' view during a time when my country is divided, unity feels scarce, and mutual aid seems more critical than ever. I believe that this fellowship will provide me the tools, connections, and perspectives needed to dismantle the barriers that disempower youth in foster care and rebuild systems around connection."
Isabel Stasa, MPA, (she/hers) is a transformative leader who translates the lived reality of foster care alumni into systemic reform and cross-sector social justice. Her work is built on the conviction that family integrity — often experienced as the sibling bond for children in care — is a foundational human right and a catalyst for equity.
Her academic foundation in Law, Justice, and Social Change from the University of Michigan and her Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University provide a dual lens for her approach. This framework informs her leadership as a child welfare independent consultant and as the Legislative Committee Chair and co-founding member for the National Network for Fostering Sibling Connections. Isabel serves as a Young Adult Advocate with the National Network for Adoption Competent Mental Health Services. She also works as a Research Assistant with Washington University.
Stasa's impact bridges grassroots mobilization and federal policy. Her time in the United States Senate saw her draft pivotal legislation protecting sibling relationships. Her commitment to embedding lived expertise in governance is further demonstrated through her service on the National Foster Care Youth & Alumni Policy Council.
Beyond child welfare, Stasa actively cultivates the next generation of social justice leaders as an educator, teaching undergraduates about the nonprofit sector as an essential engine for community justice.
