Jessica Singh is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of GynoEase, a startup dedicated to redesigning the modern speculum to improve comfort and accessibility in cervical healthcare.

Her journey began when her aunt was diagnosed with cervical cancer—a diagnosis delayed by years of avoiding Pap smears due to the discomfort of the traditional speculum. Witnessing her aunt’s struggle inspired Jessica to launch GynoEase, a venture aimed at breaking down barriers that prevent countless women from accessing life-saving screenings.

Assembling a team of like-minded individuals, Jessica took on roles as a patent writer, pitch presenter, and cold-emailer. GynoEase has since raised over $3,000, developed prototypes, and published research, all while building a foundation to introduce its innovation to regions with limited healthcare access. Rooted in the belief that cervical screenings should be both effective and patient-centered, Jessica is committed to empowering underrepresented groups by addressing the challenges they face in accessing healthcare.

GynoEase has achieved significant milestones in its two-year journey, including winning 1st place in the RoundPier Entrepreneur Competition and securing funding for prototype development. The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) accepted the team's research, earning honorable mentions and winning 1st place at the BMES Medtronic Competition—the youngest team to achieve this distinction. Collaborating with gynecologists, occupational therapists, and educators, GynoEase has continued to refine its patient-focused design, aiming to reduce discomfort and encourage greater participation in cervical screenings.

Now a Science Pathways Scholar at Barnard College studying Neuroscience and Anthropology, Jessica is examining how social and cultural factors impact health outcomes and exploring strategies to improve early diagnosis. Through the Mountaintop fellowship, Jessica aims to expand outreach for GynoEase, advance its research and development, and bring this innovative product to market to maximize its impact on healthcare accessibility and equity.
