Gari De Ramos is the Founder of Radical in Progress, an educational website providing free study guides of must-read social justice literature.

Amidst the calls to self-educate during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, Gari started making study guides for herself to look back on when she realized these study guides could and should be shared with the world through Radical in Progress.

Outside of Radical in Progress, Gari is pursuing her Masters in Public Administration in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy at NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and is the Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the CEO at the Committee to Protect Journalists. Gari graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clark University, where she also received a Master of Science in Communication.

During the fellowship, Gari will produce a package of must-have materials for activists as part of Radical in Progress ranging from study guides to safety tips. Additionally, Gari plans to meet with activists and community members to ensure Radical in Progress is meeting the moment in a changing political environment. In the long term, Gari hopes to make Radical in Progress synonymous with the phrase “educate yourself” and turn it into a full-fledged nonprofit providing activists with the information they need to radically reimagine the future.
