Esther Ajudeonu is a transformative leader whose visionary efforts through the Primacy Youth Development Initiative are reshaping the landscape of youth empowerment across Africa. Recognizing the critical linkage between education and economic opportunity, Esther launched the African Youth Mentorship Project, which hosts two programs: the AYM Symposium—a physical mentorship event that brings together industry experts, government stakeholders, and young people including secondary school students, undergraduates, and graduates under one roof to learn, mentor, and network—and the SELA (Sustainable Education and Leadership for Africa) fellowship, directly addressing the educational and economic disparities plaguing Africa. This flagship initiative, launched in March 2023 under the auspices of the United Nations Foundation’s Bigbrainstorm, has to date reached over 2,000 students and youths across 20 countries in Africa, offering them mentorship and guidance that bridge the gap between educational access and market-ready skills.

In January 2024, Esther strategically orchestrated the launch of the comprehensive seven-year SELA fellowship program under the African Youth Mentorship Project. Through a strategic one-year partnership with MESO Constructivist India, she successfully integrated 85 fellows from the fellowship’s first cohort, hailing from 18 countries, into a network that drives community-centric educational projects. These fellows, trained in environmental sustainability, are further equipped to become impact leaders in their local communities through visits to over ten senior secondary schools, significantly impacting youth unemployment by equipping students with decision-making skills and aligning their educational pursuits with actionable career pathways. Her leadership not only fosters individual growth but also strengthens community resilience, making a tangible difference in the lives of thousands.

With an ambitious goal to impact 30,000 youths in the next seven years through the African Youth Mentorship Project, Esther's unwavering dedication is set on creating a sustainable future where African youth can thrive in their native countries, contributing to robust community and economic development. Her advocacy for increased educational funding and the establishment of community centers highlights her dual approach to local and international policy influence, ensuring that her vision for a prosperous Africa is realized. Through her committed leadership and innovative strategies, Esther is not just a catalyst for change but a beacon of hope for countless young Africans.

Esther also serves as the Social Media Lead for the People Action Group in the Our Future Agenda's Engine Room, powered by the UN Foundation. In her role, she develops content and orchestrates campaigns that aim to create opportunities and jobs for young people in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Her work extends to influencing policies that benefit future generations and ensure the inclusion of youth voices from LMICs in decision-making processes, fostering a more sustainable world.

This fellowship will amplify the impact of the African Youth Mentorship Project, broadening its reach and deepening its transformative effects.
